These drawings are part of a series that I have been exploring for the last two years.
My aim is to draw attention to an everyday phenomena which we all see but seldom look hard at. The moon has an unencumbered clarity. Without the moon there is no light at night. It affects everything; our tides, our rhythms, our sleep, our feelings. The moon has been in proximity to the earth since shortly after the earth began. It takes time to see it. I use a very limited range of pencils that through the repetition of mark making reaches an extraordinary dense black.
